WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. military said Monday that it carried out “self-defense” strikes in southern Iran, including on missile launch sites and boats placing mines, even as President Donald Trump said on social media that negotiations were “proceeding nicely.”

The strikes were done “to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,” but the military was “using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire,” Capt. Tim Hawkins, U.S. Central Command spokesman, said in a statement.

Further details were not immediately available, including more specifics on the threats from Iran and what this means for negotiations. Earlier, Trump said any agreement to end the Iran war should include a requirement for several additional countries, including Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, to join the Abraham Accords, the U.S.-brokered agreements from Trump’s first term aimed at normalizing relations with Israel.

The level of blatant double think and newspeak used by this administration is absolutely astounding.

US military says it carried out ‘self-defense’ strikes in Iran, including on missile

The strikes were done “to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,” but the military was “using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire,”

Journalist should A. Ask members of the administration and military for their definitions on words or B. Just provide definitions in the article itself since A is likely to result in some wishy washy cowardly answer.

“Sir, please define self-defence in context of US attacking Iran? Please define what a CEASEFIRE is.”

Let’s be honest, this all just a distraction to play for time while Israel mounts further operations into neighbouring states. Either sign a declaration that justifies military action against you if you retaliate against future incursion by Israel or we’ll keep attacking you at the expense of the global economy. How the US population/judiciary is just sitting back while it’s government and military siphons their wallet and collapses worldwide supply chains while continually attacking mid-negotiations with “self-defence” attacks is beyond comprehension. All orchestrated by a paedo-in-chief that continually “jokes” about staying in office after his term ends.

They genuinely believe it should only count if it's an actual war crime

Clearly, the attack was a preemptive strike to defend the troops that will be attacked when the ceasefire ends without the US leaving. Or maybe the US assumes because it and its allies in the region have no problem violating ceasefires that Iran also has no problem violating this ceasefire.
