Cuba is near paralyzed at the moment, I am genuinely beginning to believe they'll not see out the summer at this rate, be it through some sort of horrible Venezuela style capitulation, or full on collapse of socialism and regime change.
the revolution survived the special period, it will survive this as well. idk what sort of horrible capitulation you mean
A lot has changed since the special period. There is no longer a Castro to lead the country through the struggle, and the US has shown itself very capable of regime change in Venezuela and has it's sights now firmly on the island. Cuba has no allies, is isolated and vulnerable, and the people are undergoing more hardship than they have in decades, all while the government itself is not exactly at the peak of it's popularity right now among Cubans who have to live through this. The conditions are objectively really bad, if not much worse than it was under the special period, with constant electricty blackouts and fuel shortages imposed by the US blockade, all under much weaker leadership than they had at the time.
If you think that the revolution was only held together by Castro then that is textbook Great Man Theory. There is more to a revolution than just its initator. We also have no proof of regime change in Venezula, the elected vice president is acting president, that is contenuing on the chain of command not a regime change, lets not just belive the US's saying that Venezula is soly working for them, remember they have a not great hand, and where not ML before the smash and grab lets give them time to figure out how to play this.
I would be curious aswell to see where you are getting the pupularity reports for Cuba, or why you think Cuban's who liberated themselves from the US, and still today in many cases have better health and education outcomes than the Yanks would think the solution is rolling over to the force inflicting the harm. Lets not just count the Imperalists Chickens before they hatch... let alone are seen to be a real threat
Remember Comrade, there is constanly a war for hearts and minds, the propoganda war, dont just listen to the Capitalists telling you its hopeless.
This is defeatism. Its ok for you to be concerned and afraid for Cuba but don't do the imperialists job for them by believing they have won before things have even started and then spreading their lies.
They are in a rough spot and things aren't great but there is no capitulation possible. Cuba has the revolution in their bones. The only way to defeat socialism in Cuba is to erase them all.
Do their job for them? I am merely pointing out that material conditions in Cuba are at their absolute worst in a very very long time. All while they have no allies nor adept leadership that can bring them out of it. When I say capitulation, I expect the government to try and negotiate some sort of deal with the US to try and ease the pressure on the country, but my concern is how much will be demanded of them for this to be possible, and whether they would be willing to go as far as Venezuela have to achieve it. My main worry is for the revolution and the survival of socialism and the Cuban people there, and both are currently at their most vulnerable. Me voicing the concern is not some sort of blind belief of imperial propaganda, it's literally the current situation on the ground in the country that shows how at risk they are right now.
Defeatism is like a disease and you are running around without a mask intentionally spreading the disease instead of getting treatment. Instead of making statements about how hopeless things are, ask questions so that your comrades can help you see that they aren't hopeless. We all know things are rough in Cuba. Deciding that they are going to "capitulate" before they do, is just you making excuses to give up on them yourself.
Venezuela did not "capitulate" they made a strategic retreat against a much more powerful foe. that is a win. What has usa really gained in Venezuela? Nothing. They get to decide where their oil goes and how the money is spent but that is better than not getting to sell oil at all. But here you are saying that they betrayed the revolution. No you are betraying the revolution in Venezuela.
Your expectations are not facts they are fears, feelings. Fear is only useful when it is at the service of your rational mind. Fear exists to draw your attention to danger. Once the danger has been identified you need to rationally choose a course that removes the danger. If you do not filter your fear thorugh rational materialist analysis you are doing what an animal does. Native americans use to use fear to get entire herds of buffalo to jump off a cliff to their death. You are doing exactly what the imperialists want you to do.
Cuba doesn't have anything usa wants. All it has is something usa fears and wants to destroy. Cuba would love to negotiate a deal with usa and I would support that but there is no "capitulation" to be had. Just like how Venezuela didn't capitulate Cuba will not either. They may make strategic retreats on some issues but no negotiations could ever defeat the revolution because Socialism is the bedrock of the culture Cuba.
Nothing short of genocide could get usa what it wants from Cuba. Because all usa wants is the end of communism. usa hates Cuba and Communism because it's existence makes the contradictions of capitalism obvious. The more they try to destroy Cuba for no material reasons the more attention it brings to the ideological reasons.
So even the worst case scenario can be used to further the liberation of mankind. Go make it happen instead of making up excuses.
