President Donald Trump has accused Iran of shooting down a United States military helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz, saying that he will respond to the attack.

“I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote in a social media post on Tuesday.

“There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”

Not sure where exactly this was supposed to happen, but a country has the right to down any unauthorized aircraft in its airspace. When Turkey downed a Russian jet nothing happened because this is just how things work. A military aircraft in another country's airspace can't expect to not be shot. It's rarely done but always possible.

I believe it's above Hormuz but the US has been launching missiles at Iran from that location so it's a bit iffy. Iran claims to own Hormuz so from that perspective Iran is in their right.

But let's be honest, international law is fake and rights don't exist. Else we wouldn't have a war with Iran to begin with seeing how bombing their country isn't exactly legal.

The only question posed to Trump is "whaddayagunnadoaboudit"

Russia continues to fly right up to the border of other countries to test boundaries, we’ve been doing it above Alaska for decades. The one country they don’t try that shit anymore with? Turkey.

Also, this wasn’t a Navy bird patrolling coastline, an Army aircraft implies a lead up to a ground invasion and any sovereign nation would be wise to shoot first before the amphibious ships roll in.
