Sucks but they legit need to get away from the visions of Davies and Moffat, I loved them in their time but new takes and perspectives will hopefully give the series new legs because the universe has so much that could be explored

Does their studio really think there's only two good showrunners in the world?

This same bullshit is ruining Hollywood, too:

  • I need an actor: Call one of these ten people
  • I need a director: Call one of these five people
  • I need a voice actor: Call an expensive famous actor, instead of a voice actor with decades of experience in the industry

More the point is that anyone experienced enough to run Doctor Who will have their own projects they want to do, and would be less willing to give up several years of their career to become an employee borrowing someone else’s toys.

Literally the only person willing to take over from Moffat was Chris Chibnall, and only then because the BBC told him they would have to cancel the show otherwise.

They could look at American showrunners, but Doctor Who is such a cultural institution that such a course of action would be very controversial.

As old as I am, started watching who in my late 20s few years after the reboot, I agree. They were what was needed then, but not what is needed now.

I haven't even finished Jodie's episodes, been sort of not as grabbed by them or the companions. I didn't even enjoy Capaldi overly but I liked what they tried with it but something didn't quite hit the mark. Maybe need to rewatch them I stick to earlier ones usually.

I like some of 12s episodes but I mostly just stick to 9-11 and the Day of the Doctor at this point
