I was about to say I don’t need this, I’ve already got the Index, but I just know they’re going to release another Half Life installation shortly afterwards that’ll be a slightly better experience on the Frame, in which case my fomo will likely pull the trigger for me.
I already sold my index in anticipation of the frame. Removing the tether and being able to run games without a pc were all that it took to convince me.
It's supposed to be limited in capability compared to streaming from a separate pc fyi
I fully understand that, and I still have my gaming pc if I want to boot up intensive games. The primary pain point with the index was when I was using already using the PC it was attached to and someone else wanted to play beatsaber or something else for a quick session (usually not super demanding games to play run)
With the frame you'll easily be able to move to a different room and play standalone, or move to another gaming pc with a single dongle instead of having to deal with the base stations and headset power, USB, and display connections.
I mean, you can do that now with a Quest 3, but I'm hoping the Frame will be a less fiddly experience, since that is the intended use case. Meta have gone out of their way to make PC gaming less friendly on their devices.
That would involve giving Meta my money.

I bought one used, so technically I didn't give them any money ;)
