Some Rules

Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
Don't promote proprietary software
Try to keep things on topic
If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

EU people - when messaging your MEPs for Chat Control or Age Verification, do you need to be a citizen of an EU country? (lemmy.world)

I am a foreigner in the EU. One of the unwashed masses. I don't like the chat control or age verification legislation. Do I have any recourse to fight for my privacy here via politics or am I at the whims of my fellow countrymen?

Most sites I see encourage you to message your representatives but the sites make it seem like it's only open to EU citizens. What about permanent residents? People who have a residence permit?

You can do whatever you want; the thing is that if you're not an EU citizen, you can't vote in elections to the European Parliament, so MEPs don't have an incentive to take your positions into consideration; you can't vote them out after all.
