Yeah, and? All diplomacy is political theater. That response is political theater.

I think the point of saying political theatre is to imply that there is no substance to back it up and it’s playing for the crowd rather than genuine negotiation. I agree that the response is, but I don’t think we should dismiss the term as unimportant or without meaning, even if we disagree with Putin.
