I mean, I'm an asexual and sex-repulsed person, so I don't get horny, let alone masturbate, ever.
However, there are also men and women in this world that do that shit constantly.
So I don't know, anything between "never" and "constantly," inclusive, is a normal amount.
That's fair enough, I can't imagine never being horny though, that's crazy. Does it bother you?
I'm intersex, and my bits don't work, but most of the world caters to me, like grocery stores and traffic intersections and public parks. I don't really take in a whole lot of advertising, so a lot of the sexual ads and content are something I never see.
I thought I was horny once, but that was just Rush Limbaugh dying.
Seriously though, I can't imagine what is so interesting about sex that people would upend their homelives about it, and write 40% of all lyrical music about it. I've got a bit of money from not having kids, and I can pursue my photography career.
In the end though, someone explained to me that horniness is the suspension of disgust: licking someone's mouth, eating ass, stuff like that. My disgust never gets suspended, I'm not gonna eat ass. People poop from there.
Legendary comment.
I think the real answer to "how much masturbating is too much," is that if your bits are chafing, it's best to let them rest.
"Horniness is the suspension of disgust" is going in my quote book, fyi. It also explains some things about me and my near-constant horniness. And, I think in some ways, the stereotypical CIS male mindset in general. Thank you for this
This is really interesting to me, I kind of feel a little sorry for you, but given that you don't know any different, lack of sexual drive is completely normal to you it seems.
That is so alien to me. I wake up absolutely desperate to orgasm and equally desperate to make my husband ejaculate (this is my thing and really really advances me towards orgasm). When he is home (which is about 70% of the time) I make him cum every morning when we wake up and then either he makes me cum or I do, when he isn't there, I look at porn and orgasm at least once, sometimes twice, before I get out of bed.
I have gotten out of bed without cumming about 10 or 15 times in the entire time I have been masturbating.
Don't feel sorry for me, I'm not broken and there's nothing to fix.
EDIT: it's not just a lack of a sexual drive, it's actually being repulsed by sex in addition to that.
Without hormonal influence, repulsion is the natural reaction regarding sex. Weird smells, orifices, fluids, grunting and sweating all up in personal space, goofy faces, the entire act is inherently gross. It takes a powerful cascade, a cocktail if you will, of hormones to induce procreation.
Yup, horniness is the suspension of disgust.
Explains why when so many dudes crank their hog, they shut off their porn with revulsion.
Yes sorry, that was patronising, and not how it was meant. It is just so far from what I've experienced since I well, discovered my clitoris, it is difficult for me to comprehend.
No offence intended.
Oh also I should add that despite being a 41-year old virgin, I didn't get wizard powers, because those aren't handed out to asexual people.
This thread is strangely validating tbh. I'm ace and not sex repulsed, but people really out here being horny multiple times a day? Could never be me.
Right? Same.
And people being horny ever? Not me, I got shit to do.
I would say that any amount that does not interfere with your daily activities is a normal amount. If you're skipping opportunities to hang out with friends or to go to events in order to stay home and masturbate, then you're doing it excessively and you need to address it.
Or if you have an actual sex life and your sex life is suffering because you masturbate so much that you don't want to have sex, then I could see that being a problem.
But, just like drinking, if everything is going well, and if you're keeping it under control and you're not damaging your interpersonal relationships with it, and you're keeping your wits about you to a certain degree, then you're perfectly fine to do it as much as feels reasonable to you and your own body's drives.
