Yeah, I’m not sure about Tahoe since my machine is too old so it won’t let me upgrade, but at least Sequoia has been fine with 8GB.

That’s not true at all.

I constantly have Illustrator, Photoshop, Sibelius, Scrivener, and about 100 browser tabs open on my 10 year old MacBook with 8gb of RAM without issue.

I taught my son to be a conscientious objector.

I caught hell for that, especially in conversations in my very, very small town where many people sent their kids into this meat grinder.

I told my son he was too good for that, and some locals hate me for that. Like they thought I was saying my son was better than theirs.

No, I just understand the system, and I’m not going to groom my kid to be chopped meat. You don’t have to do that either.

You do you. That’s not beautiful to me, though, e: and my son is the most beautiful thing in the world to me.

Oh, then the dipshit is definitely going to try it.

I don’t like Veteran’s Day and I’ve been called out for that.

I do respect and appreciate veterans for what they’ve done, but I cannot respect or celebrate the military complex that has thrown people into a meat grinder and then discarded them for decades, which is what that day represents to me.

I cannot support these wars, where people are brainwashed, used, then cast aside, to benefit elites and politicians who will never feel that pain and will literally party when dropping their bombs.

Fuck everything about that.

Yeah, IIRC when a bunch of large corporations got away with doing this in the 1980s and 90s, a lot of us just assumed it would keep happening. Some people have tried raising the alarm about this, but have been shouted down pretty consistently.

They are, dumbass. You voted a paedophile rapist, insurrectionist, murderer into office, who we all knew was a felon, and he ran in order to cover up his own crimes, as well as to break many more laws.

Aiding and abetting is a crime, and that’s what you did, at least in spirit.

Fuck all the way off.

Fascists, Musk fanbois. That Venn diagram is nearly a circle.

That fact wasn’t so fun, but thx.

His obsession with X should doom him. XXX (such a weird porno obsessed idiot), X-ing himself, he’s X-valid. X him out.

Ex-relevant.

Worth it.

If so, does that ever ruin a scene for you?

HOA be damned, I’m sleeping on my lawn.

I never turn off my machine, because every reboot forces an update and my peripherals are ancient.

Is this a Lemmy thing? Something with lemmy.ca? Something about Voyager?

I tried looking it up but found nothing that might explain this. I have a community that’s super niche and I don’t post there much, but I do on occasion. I don’t care that it’s not that active – it’s enough for me.

Over the past couple of days, I’ve had a tiny amount of interaction, and everyone who posts seems to be automatically flagged as a mod. What’s happening?

e: this is what I see:

Valueing (lemmy.ml)

I’ve officially looked at the word ‘valuing’ enough times in trying to spell it that it doesn’t look like a word anymore.

Just look at it Valuing Valueing? Valuing VALUING

This word has broken my brain today, how are you?

It looks like they’re actually tier 1 (they seem to be standing on a white platform), but what, if any, weight is each layer above them? I can see narrow platforms, but are they all taking most of the weight?

I’m not sure whether this was meant as an athletic or purely aesthetic display – since they’re billed as ‘acrobats’, I assumed skill was involved, so what would be the best and worst case scenario those 8-10 in the narrowest tier would be supporting?

e: was there any kind of structural support in this? I’m not finding much about it.

Here’s a Snopes article about this event at the 1980s Olympics in Moscow.
