This guy is taking medical advice from conspiracy theorists for COVID. he ODed on dewormer meds and is posting from.the inside of the ambulance

See, I'm not a native speaker, so I thought a "wellness company" was something like a hospital.

[–] ratofkryll@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago

It's a private company in the "health and wellness" industry. Basically modern day snake oil salesmen that convince vulnerable (or stupid) people that "big pharma" is evil and giving you cancer or whatever, while the mystery pill they're peddling will cure anything that ails you. It typically comes with a hefty price tag, lots of sales pressure, and zero evidence to back it up.

It's purposefully worded that way to be misleading, even to native speakers. Explicitly calling something medicine or a cure means it would have to be tested and regulated. However, labeling something as being for wellness isn't covered by that, and is just vague enough to have people think positively about it. That's not saying that there aren't beneficial things labeled under wellness; roughly speaking though, it's can be used to sell whatever you want, while making people assume it's actively good for them.

Yeah this is kind of an US insider post.

Edit: I'm having a bad day so I am elaborating: oftentimes they reeeeeally don't consider there's literally a world out there and the internet is connected to that world and some information can be totally confusing because it's so US centric.

Native speakers also confuse this and end up in the backs of ambulances.

Luckily I got warned first ;)

(I cracked a laugh with this, thanks)

Because obviously deworming meds will take care of symptoms that are linked to the lung/throat/breathing area (don't know the medical term for the area)

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

AFAIK there was a correlation in some countries between COVID outcome and deworming meds. In those countries people actually had worms, which weakened the immune system, so taking deworming meds in the end helped with COVID by removing the worms. Obviously it doesn't do shit if you don't have worms.

lung/throat/breathing area (don’t know the medical term for the area)

The term you're looking for is respiratory system, although COVID wasn't just a respiratory disease.

The term you're looking for is respiratory system, although

That was it.

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah, but I'll bet he doesn't have horse worms anymore!

[–] SoloCritical@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I’m guessing the paramedics called him a fucking idiot and he didn’t like that so he wants someone to tell him how close he was to the truth so he can go right back to dosin up on dewormer and cat shit.
