I stopped gaming as an adult, and grew up too poor to ever have a gaming device that uses a keyboard. So as an old person that got back into gaming a tiny little bit, using a keyboard actually is so terrible I would rather just not game if that was the only option.
But also, the types of games I would play aren't the types of games that would work well with a keyboard. Not to yuck anybody's yum, but most of the stuff that works better with keyboards, is just a yuck for me.
Bro what? You can literally take almost any controller and it probably works in a PC. If it's Xbox, even very old, it works extremely well. You don't need a console, or any special hardware to use a controller. You didn't even need a good PC.
This, I use an Xbox series x controller (Microsoft) on my Linux gaming PC. Works well. xpadneo driver
If the person you’re replying to is older than 30, this wasn’t the case for a good portion of their life. The family computer might have had some games on it, but mostly you fired up the console with its special built controller to play games
Just a question, where is this response coming from? I'm just wondering, did you read what I said or did you read what you wanted to hear?
Because it's absolutely bizarre to be "bro whatted" and lectured about controllers working on a PC as though I said it wasn't possible. In fact, to clear things up, when I play games, I play on PC and I use a controller for it.
Are consoles cheaper than PC? I'm not that old but PC and laptops, the former mostly, were more common and I learned to play using the keyboard, although after using the steam deck for a while the controller is much superior and fun
Are consoles cheaper than PC?
today, mostly, but in the past they used to be much cheaper than pc's. in the 90s a new 486 with a graphics card and hdd could be $1500, plus display. a SNES was $200. adjust both of those prices wildly upward for inflation.
Certainly when I was big into gaming, yes. Pretty much the only people I knew who had PCs at home were folks with very solidly middle to upper middle class careers. They were essentially business tools and luxury items for well off people.
Where as most of the kids who were into video games, even some of us poor / lower-middle class kids, had at least one of the major gaming consoles. Like $100 - $200 for the consoles, and "computers" were often 10 times that price or more. Plus there was a second hand market for consoles, where as the second hand market for PC/computers was very limited.
What an incredibly bizarre take. How do you interact with computers then? Telepathically?
Typing and playing games use keyboards in vastly different ways
It's still just pressing keys, there's nothing all that different about it.
Coincidentally, I find your "hot take" to be super incredibly bizarre in a poor reading comprehension kind of way. Do you know what words mean? Do you understand context?
So it's a "hot take" to say that you saying that using a keyboard is "yuck" is "bizarre", when it's the main input method pc player use? Also taking into account that the pc audience is like triple of the amount of console players. There was no reading comprehension issue, I just very innocently took your b8.
