Can't do anonymous browsing of old Reddit and now you can't do anonymous browsing of new Reddit either.

I think so too, I can still lurk on old.reddit.com. My city has a surprisingly good subreddit that I lurk on to keep up on local events and news, and I don't need to login yet. I'll probably just abandon reddit once and for all if/when the forced login affects me.

I noticed it forces to log in when using my old Samsung A52, but not on my new flagship phone, which makes me wonder if there's classism involved.

Nope. Not without signing in.

EDIT: ~~or not without using something like LibRedirect~~: https://github.com/libredirect/browser_extension & https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/

EDIT 2: forget what I said about using libRedirect with old.reddit as you wouldn't need to access old.reddit using a privacy frontend. You just get reddit.
