Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
- Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

We had a competitor in Canada, way before Marketplace: Kijiji.
It is not nearly dead yet, but if you want to avoid Meta at all cost, be ready to miss a good 80--90% of buyers and sellers (estimate provided by the Royal Institute of Guessworking).
That means there are things you'll never find even if they are sold. And things you'll never sell even if there are people looking for them.
The main difference between them is marketplace is embedded in FB app. You can search FB and find offers. That's it. That's how it won.
For most people, FB is just convenient: all in one app. Why install another? With another registration. Another site to browse. etc.
Building a competitor... easier said than done!
