From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Windows has gotten so bad that my family, who has been reticent about the switch since 2004, has finally given in and is swapping! So far I got them to agree with ChromeOS Flex (booo, but still better than windows) and Bazzite!

Chromebooks are actually pretty goated. But like, you just gotta remove chromeos in favor of Linux

They don’t make this easy to do. I convinced my boss to let me put Linux on some chrome books that we just use for presenters to read from.

It involves disconnecting the battery and some other stupid shit that the boss wasn’t going to approve me doing.

So they stayed on ChromeOS.

People talk about Apple locking their shit down a lot, but I never had to open up a MacBook to install Linux.

Yeah you gotta get chromebox firmware on there and everything. I'm sure it's a struggle but like for the price and power efficiency, it's great. It's a shame schools throw out pallets of Chromebooks because they're out of date. Google singlehandedly contributing tons of waste every year
