I'm not sure how relevant these benchmarks even are.

We're comparing Wayland sessions in gnome and kde to x11 sessions in different DE's?

I feel like they needed to compare gnome x11 to Wayland and kde x11 to Wayland to get proper data here but work on x11 stopped ages ago.

Just incase you're serious. Work on gnome x11 and kde x11 stopped ages ago, updates to the x11 server do not matter in the slightest.

As far as I know, there's no DE with a good Wayland implementation AND a good x11 implementation. Gnome dropped theirs and when kde announced they where going to drop theirs. They also mentioned that it was basically unmaintained for years at this point.
