Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Omarchy is just a bunch of dotfiles in a Hugo Boss trenchcoat pretending to be a linux distribution.
I don't get how this project just received 8 million dollars. It really is just a preconfigured arch linux.
It was all just a bunch of rich tech bros that made that $8M investment, with $1M from DHH himself.
Its not the standard investment from another company where they do some due diligence. This was just a "we think this is the future of Linux" vibe investment.
Future of Linux my ass. I want something that works.
Its not the future of Linux, most likely a fad. The most it will be is a cult OS used by people on the far right.
The only thing good I can say about it is that it has interested some people into Linux because of how all of the components are unique compared to Mac and Windows. Cosmic could be the main stream option for those users once it becomes more stable.
That makes me think there's something shady about it, like spyware or something.
because it's not about a quality OS, it's about being a hive for people to take advantage of others, and because the founder personally made connections to the people that publically gave him money.
