9-5 hasn't been standard in the US in decades. It's all 8-5 or 9-6 now.
I'm so happy I work for a normal company that lets me eat at my desk and just work 9-5.

Tbh, I come and go when I want as long as I get the work done. My official hours are 9 to 5. As in, if someone calls me, those are my hours.
Now, my LAST job, on the other hand. Same exact industry and field, but my boss was an asshole. I took the train in to work, so I had a scheduled start and end time via my train. He told me that I must take an hour lunch because it's the law. Who the fuck even cares???? Alas, since I was on train time, instead of leaving at 4:50 to catch the train, I had to stay until closer to 5:30. Except the trains left hourly. So I basically wasted a half hour every day. And I did. I made sure to do no work during that half hour I was sitting there playing with myself.
If you wanna talk about dystopia lmao
Appreciate it because that is not normal anymore.
