The life of the creator or shorter. And I mean the individual human who created it; not the company they may have made it for as an employee.
The problem with tying it to life without adding additional time is that there's a, uh, hack for instantly ending somebody's copyright.

How does this work for anything made by more than one person, especially projects by a very large team?
Its valid until one of the people pass away.
First one to say the idea out loud gets the rights. 😤
Also every job I've ever worked had a clause in the contract like "anything you make on company time is our intellectual property", which makes sense
I thought that too, but without a minimum duration clause regardless of the death of the author, nobody would publish the works of a, say, 90 years old artist, even if their work totally deserves it.
