I remember buying a car in 2005 and considering if I should buy a hybrid or not. I did the calculations on how long it would take to break even upgrading to a hybrid - taking into account the price of gas at the time.

I remember thinking "yeah gas is $2 a gallon now, but there's NO WAY it stays that high over the life of the vehicle."
