A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Where is the relevance of this news to anything that’s going? It’s similar to sharing any content where immigrants behave badly and using that as justification that all immigrants are bad.
I think you lack context. This behavior goes back a long time (at least until 1998-99 when my wife and I did our backpacking trip around the world).
Not only are they mostly gungho and rude, they tend to take over entire hostels or hotels, and threaten anyone who asks them not to do karaoke at 3:00 in the morning.
Many nations have a "type" of traveler: Canadians consistency considered the best, Dutch too stingy, British atavistic, Aussies/Kiwis friendly and fun loving, etc. It's been like this for literally decades.
The one time I was international, unless you count canada, which I never do, the german tourists would just cut in line waiting to see like pyramid ruins in the americas.
I've been told the Israelis are way worse. And read of incidents of them physically beating up people, including locals, over criticism of their country. Of course the US uses it's influence to get them off, and to crucify the ones the tourists targeted f possible.
I am Dutch, and unfortunately yes…Dutch tourists are very stingy.
Same happens here in Brazil. Israeli tourists are usually entitled ex-military genociders, they get a lot of "compensations" after serving their days as Zionist Soldiers that many just take the money and travel around the world, where they more-often-than-not disrespect local laws, customs and people, and many establish themselves in Israeli colonies where they go back to their days of supremacists, for fear of mixing in with the local population. This is happening here in Brazil, and it is disgusting. I wish my government would fucking kick all Israelis reservists out of here, or pursue them for war crimes.
You sound exactly like a right winger who trash talks immigrants. You will find stories of misbehaving tourists of any country if you would bother to look for them.
true , but the IDF are literally commiting genocide and making refugees of Palestinians, so there is that
Just do as Malaysia does and ban Israelis
So this IS about antisemitism and conflating behavior of individuals on the entire group.
Immigrants are usually not supremacists 😂
Israelis tourists usually aren’t either. Just because in your bubble only bad examples are shared doesn’t make it true. The same mechanisms radicalizes right wingers into hating immigrants because of the actions of a few.
lmao

The figures you are citing are not correct. Over 50% voted for Trump should we now extend our contempt to all Americans? I don’t think so. https://archive.ph/BXV1o
Thats not even remotely true.
Trump got around 77 million votes out of a population of over 350 million. Thats 273 million people who didn't vote for him, or 3.5x as many people as who did vote for him.
Lol, and your source for that is the libzio Israeli newspaper Haaretz?
You said that Israeli Jews are usually not Jewish supremacists. I proved you wrong showing how 98% support continued settler colonialism (right to aliyah) and 79% support Jewish supremacy and exceptionalism on the state level, and now you're whining about "Not all Jews". Grow a fucking brain.
No wonder you're German though. Do you condemn Hamas?
It's one thing to talk down ALL immigrants, it's another to talk down a specific group that came from a bad situation of their own making, and are importing that bad situation to another country.
Not all immigrants are bad, but they aren't all good either.
But it's not immigrants. It's tourists acting shitty as temporary visitors and that's very different than populist rhetoric blaming immigrants for taking jobs.
Not too dissimilar from when people take issue with US tourists (they're ranked as the worst tourists globally so far).
Or when people took issue with Chinese tourists not that long ago. You know what the Chinese government did? They educated their own population about having better manners when traveling!

Some other commentators have already confirmed that it’s about the bad actions of the Israeli government, not really about the individual tourists. The same type of argument is being made by the far right about Palestinians and Hamas. Both arguments won’t lead to peace just to further resentment.
There are 17 comments on here, there's maybe one person who said that apart from you, so no, other commentators have not confirmed this.
This person also "confirmed" above that anyone speaking negatively about tourists from Israel is being "antisemetic" too. Just your typical propaganda pusher.
True, but I live in a German speaking area, so I'm used to that and tend to just ignore the silly accusation and insist on just the argument itself.
There is legitimate criticism of the Israeli government and their war and their is demonization of all Jews / all Israelis
I did not say that. Stop lying.
Yes you did. One's nationality has nothing to do with their religion and discriminating against people from a certain nation, especially current and e former military members engaging in genocide has absolutely nothing to do with religious discrimination. Go peddle your nonsense on Facebook. I'm sure it'll get more traction there.
Hey maroon, you first commented on the article. The article mentions tourists. Quit playing pussyfoot as if you didn't start this whole charade with some veiled claim of antisemitism.
Yeah, its a little too easy to frame every single tourist by their nationality, but there is truth in these comments. It’s not so much about tourism either, its about the general mentality of certain groups of people towards other peoples and cultures.
And its not like it is at all suprising that people visiting from countries that actively promote ethnic nationalism (Russia, China, Israel) generally tend to act rude and condescending towards ‘lesser’ peoples and cultures.
