Please familiarize yourself with them

2) All posts must end with a '?'This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?

3) No spamPlease do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.

4) NSFW is okay, within reasonJust remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com. NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].

5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions. If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.

6) No US Politics.

Seriously, who needs to record someone without the knowledge of the person being recorded? That's a big red flag, a perverted character, there's no other explanation. Creepy Mark Zuckerberg allowed other creepy characters to share personal moments with him.

A know a few people who use them like a gopro - they record bike rides and stuff like that.

But you have misunderstood them - they have a very obvious recording LED, so they're not designed to record without people's knowledge. And they have some detection mechanism to tell (by reflected light) if you put tape over it or (electronically) if you break it, so modifying them to record secretly is not trivial.

If you actually want to record someone secretly, you could buy a button camera that an undercover journalist would use for a fraction of the price and not have to do any modification. It wouldn't upload everything automatically to Instagram though, which I think for the target audience of the glasses is a big appeal...

People just drill out the LED and cover the hole with epoxy and can record with no light just fine. There was just a video on the Good Work YT channel where a journalist paid some dude in a Garage in New Jersey $100 and he did it in 10 minutes.

Why would you pay like $300 or whatever for the glasses, $100 more for this mod, instead of doing what I said and buying a device designed for the job?

You didn't actually disagree with anything I said, so I'm wondering what your point is.
