Prove it. Open source the tv software
There actually is an open source edition of Web OS but I have no idea how close it is to the version on the TVs.
webOS was the Palm Pre os and it was actually quite good back then. When Palm folded, LG bought it to use on their TVs. It’s Linux based (as mentioned in the GN video) but that doesn’t mean they need to open source it; they just need to provide any modifications to GPL code that they needed to create.
All their spyware can just be closed-source executables that run on Linux and they never have to share any of that.
Specifically LG bought webos from HP after they trashed Palm. I remember trying to get a webos tablet in the fire sale.
That’s true. They could easily be running apps that do the dirty work.
