Waitlist, both for me and my nephew. I hate the lottery system.
It's the fairest solution imo. What would you prefer? A bot beating you to the punch?
I have managed to get every single Valve hardware I wanted to get so far (Deck, Deck OLED, Controller), just by showing up on time and being patient with the servers. Until now. So for me personally, my experience with the old system has been better.
They already had bot prevention measures by requiring a game purchase on Steam etc just like they did for the Frame. If a bot managed to buy a Steam Controller, it could also have entered the lottery for the Frame. So I'm not sure that there is that much of an advantage in that regard. Ebay is full of scalpers already.
So because it was better for you, you preferred the old method. Got it.
Well yeah. I said I hate the lottery and you asked me what I prefer. I prefer receiving the product earlier obviously and the previous method has worked for me.
So it's obvious for you to only think about yourself? Gotcha.
The purchase history has to be older than the stream controller, so those bots are not eligeable (requirement is April, controller released on may).
The bot/scalper problem wasn't such an issue before. The deck oled had stock for many days in my region.
In theory they are already prioritizing old/verified accounts, demand is just much higher than supply.
I hope you get lucky with you place on the wait list, I think this was the best solution to a very shitty situation.
I didn't get it two of my friends did.
Steam controller already had that requirement for an older purchase though. You couldn't buy the Steam Controller with a new account. So yes, any that were eligible to buy the controller were eligible for the Steam Frame lottery.
The frame requirement is not the same as the controller.
The controller had as retirement any previous purchase. The frame has a purchase before April. So there will be users/bots who bought the controller and are not eligeable for the frame.
Fair enough, looks like they only introduced the april requirement a few days after launching the controller. Misremembered that.
