Is the PS5 worth getting or not in 2026-27? (nord.pub)

Consider that Sony is phasing out discs on January 2028 and beyond, meaning any upcoming game after then is no longer being released as a physical copy (neither will the future PS6 contain a disc drive at all) marking the PS5 as the final iteration within the generational lineup on having a disc. All versions of the PS5 inherit the same performance regarding games but the PS5 slim is compact while the PS5 Pro has a better CPU.

Well, I have a ps5. It gets almost daily use.

I still sometimes regret getting it instead of other options because of Sony.

That being said, that's really the only issue. In terms of the device itself, it's the best console I've had or used. If Sony got out of the way and didn't limit what you can do with the damn things, it would be a no brainer for causal gaming. Alas, they won't. So I can never recommend it.
