5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Halo is officially dead. It's been dying for a while, this seals it.

For long time halo fans in the aughts, this is literally the last thing any of us ever wanted. Halo was always a completely different game than Call of Duty, but business never understood that and so today officially marks the end, where the Halo we knew is gone, and anything new will be a CoD clone more than anything else.

Is this some kind of sick revenge plot? Because COD somehow got even shittier under the MS umbrella?

Now the makers of COD are going to make Halo even shittier?

Is this a perpetual motion machine powered by enshittication?

That's why I think I'm just calling it. Halo 5 was bad, Infinite had good gameplay but the story was meandering and boring.

Campaign Evolved was the second remake of the original, which again is just graphic flashiness with none of the understanding of what made the game special to begin with.

Multiplayer has been moving from the magic that was 2 and 3 to more CoD style because they don't understand that you can have a shooter that isn't a twitch shooter. So I don't have any hope for their multiplayer either.

I'm very sad, but I'm just kind of done with it.

Fun fact: Campaign Evolved is technically the third remake.

Bungie was originally a Mac exclusive game company when they were bought out by MS. Halo was almost complete at that point and had to be ported to DirectX. The original PowerPC edition got a release eventually as well as an updated Universal Binary version that, due to the MacBook Air, is the only game I know of to have an official no-CD patch.
