Oh, cool.
But I can name a lot of animated shows better than Bojack Horseman.
For a mainstream audience of educated Western English-speaking adults, skewed towards NYT readership? I'd be curious to know what you'd say.
I think it's more an issue of NYT readership skewing extremely old. Under-40 will have watched plenty of great animated shows in this century. But someone who was 30 in 2000 probably missed out on the 2005 Adult Swim broadcasting of Samurai Champloo.
I'd add more cartoons and anime. Infinity Train takes the number 1 spot. The Good Place goes to number 2. Modern Family has no place here, replace it with Star Trek Lower Decks. Add Mythbusters and Blood of Zeus and Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai and BNA. Move Community up too. Get The Office outta here, it sucks. And move The Office down a LOT. Oh, and we gotta add Invincible and The Boys. And ATLA! If we wanna go with artsy stuff that "mature" people like, add Primal. I didn't like it all that much, but I bet normies will eat it up. Scavengers Reign is better than RuPaul's Drag Race, and A Series of Unfortunate Events is better than Stranger Things. And swap Squid Game for Kaiji, for fuck's sake! Kaiji did the same themes better.
