There’s literally no such thing as price gouging with luxury products. People have to stop equating a bad perceived value with price gouging. If you don’t think it’s a good value, don’t buy it. There’s nothing about any Apple product that is a necessity that you can’t live without.
apple isn't a luxury product they are an overprised mass market product with millions of units sold.
Luxury has a definition in economics. It’s goods beyond basic needs.
Apple is very very much a luxury. By no means are they a need. Even if you consider a cell phone a need today, there are dozens of other phones out there ranging from a few bucks up to a few thousand dollars.
You can certainly consider them overpriced, sure. That’s an opinion. What’s a fact is that they are very much a luxury, not a necessity.
You're absolutely correct. Price gouging is when you significantly raise the price of essential goods during an emergency.
Like selling water for $20 a bottle in the aftermath of an earthquake.
Apple products aren't essential goods.
smartphones are essential in many places now.
Are iPhones the only smart phone that exists?
Not really, what's your point? They are smartphones.
The discussion was about Apple products not being essential goods. It was not about smart phones in general being essential goods.
Their point was made clear to everyone else
Luckily iPhone is far from the only smartphone anywhere in the world.
“Luxury products”
Jesus Christ I’m using actual fucking terms here. Luxuries are good beyond basic necessities. You don’t need a fucking iPhone.
This isn’t a matter of opinion. By literal economic definition, Apple products are luxuries.
