If you fight fascism with more fascism, fascism is guaranteed to win.
Violent opposition to fascism is not fascism. Intolerance of intolerance is not intolerance. It is the cure.
I agree there's no peaceful way to get rid of fascism, but proportionality is very important. I'm as angry at the Trump cult as the next guy, but you have to understand they're victims of fascism as well. Not in equal part, but it's not like they deserve death for being brainwashed.
Attempting to fight fascism in proportion is a deadly mistake.
Conservatives are not victims of their own conservatism. They are consistently dishonest, opposed to education, enemies of science and do not see nonconservatives as humans.
A conservative will never humanize you. This is because they are biologically unable to experience empathy. In fact, they despise empathy. They call it "woke" and insist it is fake, evil or a weakness.
This lack of empathy affects how they view other humans. Notice that a conservative thinks of his family as his property. He loves his wife the same way a teenager "loves" a sportscar. It's a strong emotion, but not a deep emotional bond. This is because the ability to experience empathy is a component of a deep emotional bond. Conservatives do not humanize others because they simply cannot humanize others.
When conservatives have the option to incarcerate or kill you, they will do so immediately and without any sadness because you are not one of them. You are their enemy. Hear them when they say you are their enemy. You will be treated as such regardless of your kindness toward them. Hoping they will suddenly find compassion is an error that has preceded many genocides throughout history.
I mean sure but you're using the term "conservative" which is deeply embedded in american rhetoric. You're basically saying that anyone who isn't an ardent communist or anarchist should die, which is not exactly what Popper meant either..
Conservative just means opposed to radical change. Sometimes the world gets enshittified. Sometimes a thing you gave for granted changes, and the change hurts because you know what it was like before.
Talking about 'the conservatives' as though they're this amorphous entity is telling. I urge you to actually sit down in real life and have a heart to heart with someone who holds opposing political opinions instead of the endless doomscrolling you clearly subject yourself to. (this would require one who isn't indoctrinated and would be open to honest conversation, which I'll admit it's getting harder and harder by the day).
Equating conservatism with de facto psychopathy won't get you anywhere. Dehumanizing the enemy won't either. The problem here isn't that they aren't human enough, it's that they are extremely human, and thus extremely exploitable as one. Fascism is built upon uneducated workers, not a miraculously giant group of psychopaths. So fighting fascism is also done through education, and not mass genocide.
Again, please actually talk with conservatives, and give them a chance to speak. You'll find their personal worries and fears aren't as insane as you think. It's just that those fears and worries have been warped and artificially directed at people that aren't actually to blame for them. These people need to be educated on this.
The moment violence becomes inevitable is when powerful people hold a firm grasp on education and push anti intellectualism through every media channel they own. Because they do own every big media channel. Those are the heads that must roll, not the people's.
Eat the rich, feed the poor.
I was born, raised, lived and retired in the deep south. I spent over 50 years being a good friend, neighbor, relative and colleague to conservatives. I've spent endless hours in friendly debates and trying to reason with them. Your presumption that I just haven't given conservatives a chance leads me to understand that it is you who has not spent much time around conservatives.
I remember my genuine confusion and horror at how conservatives across the nation publicly celebrated the deaths of gay men dying of AIDS throughout the 80's and 90's. They actively opposed efforts by universities and researchers to find any treatment or cure because they openly wanted gay people to die. They admitted it openly and as a matter of policy for nearly 20 years. That alone should tell you who they are.
That's just a single tiny example of the evil you are defending. It wasn't just the rich or the media who celebrated the nonstop suffering and death. It was ALL conservatives. Every. Single. One.
Stop defending evil. Start defending their victims instead.
No fucking wonder the literacy rate in the US is abysmal. Imagine reading everything I've said and still claiming I'm defending evil. Instead of focusing education, just go and murder all your neighbors. The American way: kill first, ask questions later.
Trust and believe I understand the evils of the fascist regime in the US. You bet I understand that has been brewing for as long as there's been British people in the Americas. I'm a transgender Arab, trust me, I get the hatred. But also being a trans Arab, I think a lot about the brothers and sisters I've lost to Israel. If you really think it's best to murder every single Jewish Zionist because they've been getting brainwashed as early as the late 1800s, I think the conversation here is done.
I'm not calling for a 2 state solution in either places. The Ununited States of America will not survive anyways, neither will a Palestine and Israel who both live in Palestine. I'm calling for the dismantlement of the system that birthed these fascist ethnostates. Capitalism will always lead to fascism.
So instead of focusing on how much you hate your dad, or uncles, or neighbors or whomever pissed you off back in Georgia or wherever the fuck you're from, you should focus on the people that fed them the beliefs that it's the immigrants fault. Focus on Musk, Ellison, Zuckerberg, etc. It's not even Trump himself, btw, that bozo is simply letting himself be used for his son in law and every oligarch that can suck his impotent penis good enough.
Don't kill your neighbor, you won't be left with a country.
I appreciate your peaceful motivations. I am not interested in offending you and I recognize we have very different life experiences and perspectives on this.
We disagree on some points regarding fault or whether being "brainwashed" is a factor in how culpable a sadistic, narcissistic, blood-thirsty bigot should be held. But, at the end of the day, the enemy we are discussing very much wants both of us to die. No amount of patience or Socratic method or kindness can change that (in my opinion).
I think our main disagreement comes down to how to handle being the targets of a violent enemy that can't or won't stop hating us. After a lifetime of pacifism, I have come to my own realization that peace simply cannot solve this problem. I see the danger increasing daily and my alarms are just getting louder and louder. I view my own inaction as a dereliction of responsibility. But, that doesn't mean I expect you or any other victims of conservatism to be required to engage in violence.
I genuinely respect your preference for peace. I've held a similar position for the majority of my life. I really do wish I could still see things that way. And who knows? Maybe some poetic Deus ex Machina will descend from the heavens and make it all OK.
One thing I am confident about is that a conservative will never humanize us and will despise us until the day we (or they) die. Maybe you are right and brainwashing is to blame. Maybe the most culpable party is the media or the billionaires or Russia or all of them. In my opinion, the threat is still the conservative bigot, no matter who is to blame for creating that threat. I understand we disagree on this, and I respect your position.
I understand, and I really do feel your anger. I think we might've had a similar transition in opposite directions. Just please be safe and watch out you don't succumb to the same cruelty they extend to you.
