I think that's precisely what explains the split on the perception of AI between the west and the Global South. Western countries are in material decline, and people see their life getting worse day by day. So, new technology is viewed through the lens of having a lower standard of living and fear of unemployment. Meanwhile, the standard of living in the Global South is rising, and people are optimistic that new technology will make their lives better.
