Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
- Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

Why did all the American companies suddenly start asking for my ID?
Because we have reached some sort of critical mass of ad blocking and anonymization online, enough that it's starting to hurt the bottom line, so they need a solid way to track people for that shit.
Also, the US is currently being run by a rabid pack of puritan Christo fascists, ie Project 2025. Right now it's "protect the children", but ultimately the idea is to track and sensor and "reeducate" people.
"Oh, you search for 'signs I am gay'? Better report to God Camp."
Don't even think about trying to be anything that does not fit in the box.

In case you didn't get it. The "protect the children" comment was likely meant to be facetious. That's the excuse usually used to increase authoritarian surveillance.

I usually like to verify since without a sarcasm mark and with all the different people in different cultures and language barriers, sometimes it those things tend to get lost. 🙂
