From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

This is really showing that Linux is on its way to be plagued by lots of corporate crap. What surprises me though is that the OS comunity has not come up with a FOSS solution that does what MS Defender does? I'm no programmer so i may be talking out of context. Why do i need to think that my out of the box Debian machine is more vulnerable than MicroSoft Windows.? Time to move to BSD?

There is Clam AV. Has been existing for a while. But people often say it's not needed.

Don't know for how long that will be applicable.
