I wish No Kings protests in the US looked a little more like this. That's fucking awesome.

[–] dreamkeeper@lemmy.world -3 points 9 hours ago

If they did we'd lose the election in a heartbeat. You keyboard warriors who sit at home and do nothing but whine and criticize are the fucking worst.

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 day ago (4 children)

In the US they would open fire and kill hundreds of protestors.

[–] myyass@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

Yeah. It's not like people don't remember what happened in Kent State or the Coal mine protest. You can say all you want about the second amendment until you learn the concept of superior firepower.

[–] TootTootComingThru@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Perhaps that's exactly what it would take for some people to snap out of it.

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I think in the US you would see this if people felt like they were choosing between dying and dying. If it was die in a riot or starve to death or die of exposure for example. Right now it’s suicide by cop or pretend everything is fine. I think if the US didn’t have insane violent thugs in surplus military gear driving armored vehicles as law enforcement you would see a lot more “action”. The math just doesn’t add up if you know acting this way will likely end up with you dying.

This is what the rest of the world doesn't understand. It's been demonstrated in history. Everyone thinks USA Mickey Mouse and Coka Cola! It's more like the saw movies.

Yeah it’s not my fault I’m a coward, the rest of the world never had to fight in the face of death for their rights so they wouldn’t understand.

Huh actually they do understand seeing as most of them did have to do that.

It is all Mickey Mouse and Coca-Cola. And by that I mean they have you fat and distracted.

Speaking of Mickey Mouse go watch andor again and tell yourself how brave and righteous you were while you watched.

[–] myyass@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

You're not a coward. You probably never had a gun to your face or bled for six hours, talk about a roller coaster of thoughts.

They keep telling themselves it’s so much tougher to protest in America than it is for France. Whatever makes you feel better.

Keep playing checkers when you need to play chess.

there aren't quite enough politically motivated suicidal people for that to happen yet

Despite everyone saying they want to die on the internet they don’t actually want to die, hope this helps

[–] ysjet@lemmy.world 68 points 1 day ago (2 children)

If this was an american no kings protest, those cop cars would have been swerving to hit the protesters.

The cops would later say that the protesters stepped in front of their car, and would get no punishment.

[–] untropvertimide@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Multiple attempts were filmed. At least one attempt by the "anti felony brigade" ("Brigade Anti Criminelle", or "BAC")

[–] eurostile@lemmy.zip 27 points 1 day ago

Don’t worry, French cops did it at least one time during the high schoolers protests we had the last few days/weeks. We are witnessing a very violent response from the police here in France (nothing close to what ICE is doing in the USA…yet)

It doesn’t show correlation. They’re probably making a point about priorities, because it shows more people attend furry conventions over the course of a year than ICE protests.

One of those is proven to be safe and the other is not

[–] antianarchist@sopuli.xyz 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Absolutely correct. I made the graph out of a joke and did not expect the result. A lot of US people still believe that what they are doing is “heavily protesting the government”.

[–] dreamkeeper@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

And how did you define "ICE protest"? We had 8 million at No Kings in one day last year, funny how that isn't in your cherry picked graph.

[–] antianarchist@sopuli.xyz 1 points 8 hours ago

lmao, I know that education is bad, but at least try to read and understand that graph, where it clearly says those are ICE protests, so your allegation of me cherry picking is simply stupid. And if you believe that No Kings was about protesting ICE, then you most likely did not even understand the message you want to transmit to your government

The No Kings protests grew a large number of participants, because US people love to walk around with cardboard signs together with friends. After the protests, everybody went home happy and the next day everything was as if nothing happened.

Just another one believing you are heavily protesting your government while the rest of the world is laughing at you.

[–] elevenbones@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Its not correlation, it's causation.

[–] Cheebus@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

furries are the opiates of the masses
