That’s what propaganda does. China isn’t a free democracy.

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago (3 children)

I'm sure you know better than the actual Chinese people polled. Thanks for setting the record straight.

Some times it takes an outsider to see the problems, and I’m not alone in seeing massive democratic problems in China. You don’t know who participated in that poll (and neither do I) was it random people on the street or pro party people? With the amount of surveillance in China, I probably would think twice before speaking against the party.

The communist party has the sole power in China, while other parties technically are legal they haven’t got any power higher than city/regional level.

And then there’s the corruption, they have massive problems with that.

And before you go “hurr durr other countries bad” yes other countries do have problems and some may be worse than China, but that doesn’t legitimise Chinas government.

They lifted 800 million people out of poverty in 40 years and 90% of Chinese adults own their own home. They haven't dropped a bomb in 50 years. They produce more solar panels in a year than the rest of the world has combined so far.

Yeah. There's a lot to like.

Also, more data from a "better" source.

and when North Koreans say the Kim gang are great, we should believe them.

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

I believe them more than the obvious bullshit propaganda coming from the country that literally genocided them, lmao.

You believe shit like every man in the country has to get the same haircut?

[–] BrainBow65@lemmy.world 1 points 2 minutes ago

It would be a lot easier to combat other country's propaganda if citizens were able to travel to or at least communicate with other countries. Why won't the government allow them to do that? There isn't any non-tyrannical reason to censor all media in and out of the country.

wp:Let's trim our hair in accordance with the socialist lifestyle

The program claimed that long hair could adversely affect hygiene and human intelligence, as growing it "consumed nutrition" which would ultimately starve the brain of energy and reduce human intelligence[1].

I see what you're getting at but you only need to glance at the US to know that a lot of citizens of a country do NOT know WTF they're talking about when it comes to their leadership.

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

You think there might be a bit of an education gap between the two countries looool?

[–] Junkers_Klunker@feddit.dk 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

China also do have a large population of lesser educated people. Not everyone in China are doctors or engineers.

[–] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 2 points 58 minutes ago

Obviously? We're comparing them to America though, lol.
