He fled because he had something to hide. Politics has become so messef up that its become a refuge for dirty affairs.

Yes. To be more specific, he was already under investigation for multiple crimes, and his congressional immunity was going to expire in January 2027. He was hoping that being elected president would then get him presidential immunity for several more years.
