I am surprised every time I get reminded that Threads exist. Yet I know therapist friends who get a ton of clients from posting on there.

You kid, but I had someone get in touch with me through my contact form saying he has a fetish for therapist shoes and asking if I would be willing to sell my shoes to him. He was very polite about it.

Great. Now we can't be honest lest we get committed
I don’t believe in sending people to hospitals against their will unless they are an active danger to themselves or others. Tons of my clients are passively suicidal (complex trauma), and we just work on that in therapy. In my 6 years of therapy, I only had to call 911 once, and that’s because the client directly asked me to.
