What I'm shooting at isn't relevant. What is relevant is that it's significantly quieter. A gunshot is quite distinctive and can be heard over several kilometers. It can cause unnecessary stress for a lot of animals who, justifiably, are terrified by the sound. A suppressor will drastically reduce the range of the sound.

Let's say I want to shoot in a new sight, or see how a new bullet flies over various distances. It is highly appreciated by everyone. Humans and animals alike, that I'm using a suppressor.

An added benefit is also that the recoil is reduced
