- No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
- Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
- No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
- Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
- If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.

But 7 Seaters have a clear purpose and are mostly used for transporting multiple people. SUVs usually only have five seats, have crappy emissions and mostly seniors drive them in Germany. Why the hell do senior citizens need SUVs?
The difference between a stationwagon and an SUV is that a stationwagon is usually narrower and uses space efficiently. SUVs on the other hand don't use space efficiently and the bonnets are a lot higher than with stationwagons. https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/road-safety-fears-from-increasing-car-bonnet-height

Again, you don't need an SUV for equipment unless it is professionally. If you need the space, fold over seats or buy a stationwagon.
It is not that the 5-seaters version of the same model were/was that much smaller in size than a SUV. What I noted is that people think SUV are bigger because they looks bigger but once you go to check the measures you discover that they are not that big, in fact there bigger cars that are not classified as SUV nor PickUp.
And I suspect that my old 1.5 liter 7 Seater was, emission wise, worst than my new hydrid 1.4 liters SUV.
I would point on the fact that since the SUV is a little bit higher they can enter and exit more easily than on a sedan or a minivan.
Narrower maybe, but I doubt it use the space efficiently. Let's say that a stationwagon is just a 7 Seaters without the 2 additional places and a little lower.
That can be a problem, I agree, even if I think that in the impact with a person the height of the bonnet is a relative problem in respect of the force tranfered from the car to the person.
I disagree. In the end you are telling me that I just need a car that is about 10 cm narrower (if even that) than my current one with the same load capacity (in volume). It does not make any sense if the problem is the occupied space.
Also checked the bans on SUVs in certain cities and they go by five meters length and two meters width for non-commercial vehicles. Though in parking lots, two meters width without mirrors is still going to be a space issue. So let's at least agree on that a private vehicle shouldn't be more than five meters long. That would mean you can take a Tiguan or a Dacia Duster into a city, but not most Mercedes or Land Rover SUVs.
Are you sure you don't drive a crossover or a MPV? 1.4 liters sounds awfully small for a motor for a SUV. Usually SUVs in Europe have upwards of 1.8 liter engines.
Also when you consider what the US wants to import, we are talking about vehicles bigger than 5.5 meters in length and two meters in width.
Yes, it has a 1400 (a little less) gasoline engine, but it is an hybrid. And it is classified as SUV by the brand, not me.
I know, but it is to be seen if they are sold.
One thing is to say what cars US want to sell, another thing is if people buy these cars. And my bet is that such cars would not sell (if not in small numbers), too much expensive to run here where gasoline is much more expensive, regardless the dimensions.
