Does this mean they actually think the opposite?

You can have a little genocide, as a treat.

Yes, absolutely. The people running the Holocaust Museum LA are fascists who support genocide. We should spread the word far and wide so that it is understood by everyone.

Unless they disprove it by putting the message back.

They didn’t mean for it to apply to the current genocide, just the hypothetical future genocide that would never happen in real life.

[–] Jake_Farm@sopuli.xyz 7 points 3 months ago

Well I guess factually "never again" wouldn't make sense since the genocide is actively taking place.

And how can that be "misinterpreted"?

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Basically the house of cards can fall at any second so they need everyone to tow the party line that Palestinians deserve what they are getting.

No, no, we just don't want to have it be misinterpreted that we posted all genocide should be rejected. The current situation in the middle east, if it is or isn't a genocide, does not excuse us for taking the position that all genocide is unacceptable.

Painting with broad strokes that all genocide is wrong is insensitive to those who may have different opinions about the propriety of genocide, and those people are worthy of including in our circle of valued partners and members, who can Never Again tolerate genocide unless we need to on social media.

It means they think whatever their donors pay them to think. I’m guessing they threw a hissy fit and some random employee will be blamed for this even though normal people would not find it even slightly controversial.
