The government shouldn't help its people? The government should instead help weapons, communications companies, large estate companies, and banks? The wealthy can't afford it I guess, so we have to prioritize their needs over the voting populace? GTFO out with that elitist nonsense. Same old rhetoric, it's handouts, the poor are poor by choice or laziness, not due to cost of living, food, education, etc.
Yes, this is how monarchies operated through human history. The goal is to go back to that. To undo the efforts of enlightenment thinkers and revolutionaries that gave us societies with individual rights, popular sovereignty and seperation of powers.
Many that hold power and wealth want to turn back the clock to a time before systems held either in check.
