Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1502 readers
68 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

Parent comment topic was about Toxic Masculinity. And tittle is Why does it seem like so many (young) men these days flock over to types like Andrew Tate? at Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world

Pussy word is used for men who lacks daring in reasonable situations. I don't see how it is rude & misogynistic? Probably they are sexist if they think woman can not be unemotional, stoic, strong and courageous.

Well, yes it's ingrained misogyny, and it's also ingrained into modern language. The mod can't expect to force people to stop using a word they personally disagree with, especially if it's normalised in the speaker's world. Censorship of basic speech and expression is the reason some of us left Reddit ffs

Edit: Read your comment. Your whole comment reads like a poor attempt at an argument which never existed.

  • Emotions are part of humanity and creatures with autonomy, to unconditionally stifle emotions is to reject the idea that you exist in any meaningful way.
  • No, it is never "right to shame others".
  • You've perceived a decreased performance in what way?

Sorry to check you like this, but some of the things you've stated don't entirely align with my worldview. I am of the belief that all beings are valid and deserve, at the most basic level, a free life and general comfort. Ridiculing someone can negatively impact this, and as modern life is already hostile to the vast majority, being nice to folk is the least we can do.
