A friend of mine is lactose intolerant and used to eat chocolate anyway, which kind of turned her into a diarrhea time bomb. Usually at most a half hour later she would suddenly get up and run to the bathroom, anything in the way was toast.
As a lactose intolerant individual, I can assure you that once a quarter or so Mexican food beckons me and a willingly walk into that dark night. No regrets... at least not while I'm eating. Afterwards there are regrets.
Oh god, reminds me of the time I was with that same friend at a Mexican restaurant. They had decorative chilis on the plate, which we were explicitly warned not to eat. I carefully ate a bit of one of them. I grew up with hot food. She didn't. She looked at me casually munching on one of the Chilis and thought, "doesn't seem that bad". Long story short, I ended up running to the kitchen asking for a glass of lactose-free milk, and of course they only had normal milk. Thank god there was no accident in the car on the way back.
I literally envisioned her running to the restroom and everything between her starting point and the bathroom literally turned into toast.
Same. Not from chocolate, but from ice cream, butter, and foods like pizza and lasagna that are made with lots of cheese...my bf's favorite meals.
