This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

Your scenario wasn't terribly relevant to a nazi propagandist being hung after the war, after the holocaust. It came across as trying to paint the idea that nazis were hung as bad. When others brought up death tolls alluding to genocide you likened the idea of killing nazis to the current US government killing reporters.
I had a brief look through your profile after and it's clear you're no nazi, but we still found your comments in poor taste.
I took the meme at face value without researching who it was so respectfully I think you might be taking my comments out of context.
We considered your comments without the context of who the guy really was. We still found them in poor taste.
You straight up called it Nazi apologia and didn’t respond when I DM’d you to clear it up which is why I’m calling this mod action out as power tripping.
I wasn't available at the time? I can't be expected to respond instantly to everything. It is nazi apologia, even if that was not intentional. At least in context it seemed like it. I would have written "nazi" if I removed the comments because I thought you were a nazi and would then promptly have banned you.
No instead you misinterpreted it, put ‘Nazi apologia’ on the mod log before you deleted the entire post so no one has context.
To be clear I don’t care that you removed the comment I care that you put Nazi apologia on my mod log when I’m very anti-Nazi.
How were they supposed to know you didn't bother to learn what the meme was about before using it as the basis of your argument?
What that I only read the meme and didn’t do a deep dive into the guy’s history to learn that the meme was misrepresenting the facts?
The meme says he was a nazi propaganda journalist who supported the genocide and was convicted at Nuremberg, which is true. A situation that is no where near the same thing as hanging the opposition journalists when governments change, a tasteless statement to make regardless of what you knew about Streicher.
Maybe this is a lesson to learn about things before saying stuff? Or, at least just accept you made a mistake and move on.

Are you saying you think it was wrong to hang a Nazi collaborator and cheerleader, because he was a journalist? What if he wasn't a journalist? What's your point?

I’m saying that the information presented in the meme makes it seem like they’re hanging a journalist for being a journalist which is a slippery slope.
What do you think 'journalist' means?
