World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
- Blogsites are treated in the same manner as social media sites. Medium, Blogger, Substack, etc. are not valid news links regardless of who is posting them. Yes, legitimate news sites use Blogging platforms, they also use Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube and we don't allow those links either.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

You know you can go enlist, right?
I think what you meant to say was,
Despite the fact that,
https://news.gallup.com/poll/693203/ukrainian-support-war-effort-collapses.aspx
Edit: grammar
Tell us you're from .ml without telling us.
Putin's nut moisteners arriving right on time.
Oh look, another .ml bot, how unsurprising.
See my answer to your comrade. Bye.
What is it with yall refusing to believe any opposing viewpoints are organic?
Those 69% of Ukranians who want to end the war via negotiation - are they Russian bots as well?
The fact that they want the war to end doesn't mean they want to surrender.
Your cherry picked data means nothing, like your opinion.
I know... I know... It's hard to hear but try not to cry if you can...
How does this follow or relate to anything we've discussed so far?
It simply completely nullifies your cherry picking.
He has a point, regardless of what instance he's posting from.
No he does not. You need well formulated questions if you want good answers in a poll. If you asked "would you prefer we give up fortified front line territory and forcibly halved our army in exchange for ceasefire?" you would not get that percentage.
They are sick and tired of this war, no question about that. But this war is existential. Russia does not acknowledge Ukrainian as a real language and culture. Everyone knows Russia would attack again. Ukraine has no choice but to defend themselves.
Oh, my sweet summer child...
I guess you don't have an actual response.
Just insult the people holding you accountable.
I don't see the usefulness of responding to bots.
You should learn what a bot is.
Get ratio'd, vatnik.
You should realize that you can't expect to distinguish them anymore.
Also meat bots are still bots, if you know what I mean.
You know you are free to go join the Russian army and go kill innocent families and kidnap children for Russia's war if you are so enthusiastic about sucking Putin's dick right?
Maybe you can cede your home and all your possessions to Putin? You realize that is what you are defending right?
Nope, it's actually a simple question:
Do you think the Ukrainian common people should be the primary agents in determining whether or not to continue combat?
No shit people don't wanna die in a war.
The alternative is fascists rule the world. It sucks but the shittiest people in the world have the most power in the world.
That only changes if people fight which is why it is important that the world stand with Ukraine against Putin and the fascists of this world.
And there's the rub. You can't just stick your fingers in your ears when Ukrainians are aiming to end combat and pursue negotiations, and then turn around and say you are "standing with Ukraine".
Put simply: to stand with Ukraine means to affirm the hopes and agency of common Ukrainians - which is definitively not what you're doing.
Consider this thought experiment:
In 5 years, supposing the grueling combat has continued, and 95% of Ukrainians definitively and undoubtedly wish to end combat, is it really "standing with Ukraine" if you reject this number and insist they continue to fight to "save the world from fascism" while you yourself have not enlisted?
Only thing you enlisted in is ribs night at Golden Corral.
These polls are so bad. It's like asking "would you like peace?". Ukranians know perfectly well what would happen to them and their relatives if they lost the war. Fighting a war SUCKS but it was not their choice to go to war. It was not their choice to get terror-bombed every single night.
It's actually not like that at all. It's actually pretty simple:
how much they pay you comrade? or is it more like "if you post our propaganda we'll give you a new rug to hang on your wall and more vodka to feed you and your families wet brains. Also here's a new adidas track suit so you can go squat in."
Do you have the a comparable stat from Russia?
