Dutch mayors are increasingly implementing emergency measures that reportedly restrict citizens’ rights, such as preventive searches and bans on gatherings, according to NOS data.

In 2012, seven such measures were active in six municipalities; this year, 77 decisions were recorded across 38 municipalities, including extensions.

Authoritarian creep is a danger to all western democracies.

Exactly.. A danger to people in general. Never came across people who lived under a dictatorship who felt free, happy or without having lost friends & family to the regime.

Sometimes there are apologists though, but that's a imo a trauma induced coping strategy or they were collaborating (often under some life or death threat).
