I used to have a shirt where the the "long" sleeves where sown onto the short sleeves, giving the illusion I was wearing 2 shirts.

So you were one of the REALLY cool kids

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago

I still have a couple of these

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago (2 children)
[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

We did. Lookcaround, everyone is naked now.

In seriousness, i haven't seen people do this.

[–] hypeerror@sh.itjust.works 2 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Liking music or the shirt thing?

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago
[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

Both I still wear long sleeve thermals under my band t shirts

[–] jaaake@lemmy.world 22 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

Only if it was a thermal. This is nonsense poserism.

Also the year was 1994.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 52 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Back in the day I somehow acquired a promo t shirt for the movie Eurotrip that had long sleeves sewn under short sleeves so it looked like you were wearing 2 layers but it was only 1 shirt. Can't remember where that thing came from, as I've never seen the movie.

[–] fitjazz@sh.itjust.works 16 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I have a couple of shirts that my parents got me in the 90s that have long sleeves sewn into a normal tee shirt. They thought I would like them because I did wear thermals and long sleeve tees under my short sleeve tees. I was gracious and would wear them occasionally when I was not going to see anyone I knew, but internally I did not like them because they defeated the purpose of the 2 layer system and made me look like a poser.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago

Good on you for wearing them without complaining.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

Euro trip is hilarious. You should watch it

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

"Scotty Doesn't Know" is such a banger of a song too. I couldn't find it anywhere to download when the movie came but you could play it on the website for Eurotrip, so I recorded the shitty stream to put on my MP3 player.

I think it’s because you need to stay warm while out skateboarding and going to shows, but a jacket would cover up your band Tshirt, so long sleeves go underneath.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 2 points 15 hours ago

This and flannel was me in the 90’s; and everyone else. I loved the thermal under a t-shirt look, let me stay both casual and warm!

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Some people remember legit fall where you could layer anything.

They tend to be millenials.

[–] homes@piefed.world 31 points 1 day ago (2 children)

In the 90s, it meant you did heroin

[–] phar@lemmy.world 36 points 1 day ago (2 children)

In the late 90s you were a sk8er with at least one pair of jncos

[–] jimerson@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

Can confirm! xD Toss in Vans, a chain wallet, and bleached hair to complete the look.

[–] homes@piefed.world 5 points 1 day ago
[–] CorrenteAlternata@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I can understand why, but then: why not simply wear a long sleeve shirt without the regular t-shirt on top?

[–] homes@piefed.world 11 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

Because it looked cool

And it was a lot easier to find cool T-shirts than it was to find cool long sleeve shirts

That makes sense, thank you!

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Does it mean anything now? Still a super practical way to get different looks without a big wardrobe through the power of permutation. Also layering produces an air gap that makes this nearly as warm as a sweater and the outer layer rarely needs to be washed. Wore it because I liked music, kept it because I didn't want to buy a lot of new clothes.

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago

Yes, i have to say - I really like this look. I've layered like so omce or twice in my life but i don't often get long sleeves. A nice winter style

[–] Sumocat@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] musubibreakfast@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

No, that's Josh Hairnet

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Whatever happened to Josh Hartnett? Lucky Number Slevin was a great time and Hollywood Homicide was a fun throwback to campy buddy cop movies. Then he just disappeared.

[–] klugerama@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He had a decent part in Oppenheimer, which was 3 years ago. Then he was in Trap 2 years ago, which had a lot of hype but was evidently bad (I haven't seen it).

[–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 5 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

This is not as recent, but he was also in Penny Dreadful which was pretty good.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

Thanks for the reminder. I think I'll rewatch Penny Dreadful. Eva Greene and Timothy Dalton, what's not to like?

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 1 points 15 hours ago

The third season will always make me sad. I get that John Logan felt like the story had reached its natural conclusion but I disagree.

[–] Onyxonblack@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Dude... 30 days of night?? That was Epic!

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

Such a great movie!! A 90's raunchy romcom with a heart.

Will always know what tryst means

[–] kaykay@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I also remember a short while where sleeveless hoodie-vests was a thing so I was rocking three layers with shorter and shorter length sleeves like that and I was the coolest kid in my school (probably).

[–] gray@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago

I still think sleeveless hoodies are a cute look (if you are a bara character)

[–] Reborn_Mormon@lemmy.world -1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I wasn't allowed to do this. It was sacrilegious in my house because my mom and dad had secular rules which predicated over all else. I had to jump through hoop for narcissists, and then one died, and the other hurt me terribly. I forgive him, but I am hurt now by how he has seemingly thrown me away. I'm suicidal most days, but I was banned from c/mental_health or whatever because I'm too damaged to be of value to those mods. I am a n*gger apparently, according to those mods. That which I am is never good enough, so the mods ARE my parents, and so by the rules, I offer my mouth for them to piss in. Inferior I am.

Not good enough. Always not good enough to be accepted as I am. By the content of my being I am subhuman to some people. Now go ahead and bane me because I know it's a mafia here on lemmy world as Ghislene Maxwell was mafia lord on Reddit. Do it. Do it.

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Many such cases.

[–] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago

in america i assume

[–] db2@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

And defeated an alien invasion with Bic drugs.

[–] Tidesphere@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's a tshirt but the sleeves go all the way to the wrists

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

No point in me changing the title now haha. I'm not trying to be twee it's just my device is notorious for typos, it seems to not know what language it wants to autocorrect to so it just corrects to misspellings

[–] Tidesphere@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

That's legit, I've been there
