I'm not mad at this guy. He makes so much less than Trump, or the people who are telling Trump what to talk about, or the people Trump is telling what he's going to talk about. And besides, Trump is so likely to go off-script that it really is a gamble.
why does anyone bet on these sites if we know its rigged?
I mean, the point is to use stock-market-like mechanisms to predict the future. If we want to know if Trump will talk about crypto, and someone plunks down $10,000 saying he will, then either that person is an idiot who will soon lose their money, or else we can be decently confident that Trump will talk about crypto. The fact that someone who actually knew what Trump was going to talk about put a bunch of money down on what Trump would talk about isn't a flaw in the system - it's the point.
Why would people bet on the site, then? Well, for most people, because they are dumb and like gambling. But for more knowledgeable and sober-minded people, because they have a reasonable expectation that they will make money. Mr Teleprompter, for example, knew for certain he would make money here, so he placed his bets. But if he's smart, he will walk away and buy a boat or something (actually, don't buy a boat - thats the opposite of smart), rather than taking his winnings to bet on the outcome of the world cup.
You can also use it to hedge against risk as a normal person way easier than derivatives... But I doubt that's what 99% of people are using it for.
The fun part is when you understand the cia and NSA have run their own intelligence prediction market and have for quite some time.
Because preying on people addicted to gambling is a form of violence.
Focusing on the people addicted to an obviously even more rigged casino in their pocket is missing the point.
I buy the occasional collector card pack $5-50 for 15 seconds of endorphin rush but I don't bet my retirement if Trump is going say "crypto" or if its going to rain in Pheonix...
That sounds normal, your brain is probably not the type prone to become addicted to gambling or at least your life is stable enough that it hasn't manifested as an existential escape that spirals into an existential issue.
Have ADHD and managed to survive but my mother was addicted to gambling and almost lost her house. I focused my addition on learning cool things and became an engineer. Funny enough I work with ypung engineers that gamble on this site. Bro, your income buts you in the top 10% of the USA.
Huh, so trickle down does work but only when pertaining to corruption at the very top.
