Must sign up with email to read :/

Corporate greed also wants my email address so they can resell it to other corporate asshats.

Maybe I need to go further than Lemmy and get back into Usenet newsgroups. It's been a decade-plus and I'm sure it's more civil there.

I read a bunch of articles on that site yesterday and never had an email popup. They have it as the first thing on the page, but you can scroll right past it?

Mine scrolls to down to other article titles, which click into similar page with email address prompt and more article titles.

Using Firefox on mobile gives me articles I can read without subscribing to anything or putting any email in at all. I just checked again. https://www.worseonpurpose.com/p/your-cookware-got-worse-on-purpose

I can read the article linked and the subscribe button isn't until after the first few paragraphs and you can just scroll right past it.

I also hate that the new norm is to demand personal info and subscriptions to everything on the web, it's just not what I'm being presented with on THIS site.

Maybe the site is better with an ad blocker.

Not a bad start on quality. Until people stop paying for tat (physical or digital) quality will continue to slide.
