Tesseract bad! ICE bad! Upvote now, quick!

[–] tutter@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Well sry for talking about things i find interesting i guess

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 9 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I do not forgive you. Everyone should be talking about the things I find interesting, and/or setting me up to make lame, tasteless jokes.

[–] tutter@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Shit. Sudoku time then 😔

[–] JohnSmith@feddit.uk 6 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Why is he beating a sleeping ass?

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

We all know you know why. ;D

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

I see someone's not on the tesseract list ᗜ⩊ᗜ

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

I have my own tesseract anyway, and it's way nicer.

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 3 points 7 hours ago

sorry you didn't make it to the list it is really nice here

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

that dead horse should be leaking a slurry of beans

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 39 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (5 children)

I am on that list for some reason. I have no idea what Tesseract is, I have no interest in Tesseract or its creator and I don't give a shit about any of this.

But when it was brought to my attention that I am on this rando's shit list, I took a minute to go to his community - hosted on his own instance apparently - and left a comment on his thread about the blacklist to tell him he's just not that important. And now I'm banned from his instance altogether apparently.

And you know what? Strangely enough, I still don't give a shit 🙂

But I will say this: what a sad, empty life this poor man must lead to feel the need to curate a Fediverse blacklist.

I was looking forward to reading it but I'm only getting "Not found."

Am I the only one or did it just go down?

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 3 points 9 hours ago

I am on that list for some reason

This holds up, I have a positive tag on you like eery other name I've recognised on the list.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 23 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

There's only like 20 people that post on this thing and apparently he blocked like 75% of them.

[–] deacon@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

All the more despondency I feel being weighed, measured, and found acceptable

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 2 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

But I will say this: what a sad, empty life this poor man must lead to feel the need to curate a Fediverse blacklist.

Just imagine how much his entire little world must be imploding right now.

He really thought he'd figured it out. Found a way to control and censor Lemmy to his liking, without anybody ever being the wiser. But then one day, out of nowhere, he gets found out. Now he's a laughing stock and pariah across all of Lemmy, and his censorship scheme is done, instances dropping his frontend left and right. And, worse, he keeps digging himself deeper, making alt accounts and trying to argue his case ... and people keep seeing through the alt accounts and giving him even more shit for it. And to top it all off, he doesn't have enough self-awareness to ever ask "am I the asshole here?" -- he just keeps whining about how unfair this all is to him.

And the best part is, he deserves every bit of that.

[–] mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 3 hours ago

Idk he can just make a new account using a private frontend that does all the same blocking

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 2 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Man, I agree with your comment you left there; he needs to get over himself.

While I didn't read his whole rant, I read a good bit of it. He does have a point, in that he's not obliged to accommodate users, and nor are we obliged to use his client.

This is basically history repeating itself again with the Beehaw defederation. Fitting with the motifs associated with history repeating itself, the repeat is a temu knock off of the original.

In both cases it seems pretty immature, at least in approach, but structure isn't necessarily bad and it's a big ocean.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 5 points 11 hours ago

He does have a point, in that he’s not obliged to accommodate users

He might not be obligated to "accommodate" users, but I'd argue he is obligated to inform users.

If he'd made the blocklist public and an acknowledged 'feature' of his frontend from the beginning, then sure. Everything would be fine. Some users might want to use it without the blocklist, but he's not obliged to provide that for them.

Making the blocklist secret, though, is deceptive, manipulative, and underhanded. And it goes against the entire ethos of both open source and the fediverse.

[–] orlyowl@piefed.ca 2 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

This is basically history repeating itself again with the Beehaw defederation.

I've been around the fediverse longer than the age of my account would suggest, but I missed the drama around Beehaw somehow - what was the story there?

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 2 points 10 hours ago

Beehaw is by approval only for accounts. They're really clear about this, but they also went through a huge defederation with a lot of big instances.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world 12 points 14 hours ago

less pathetic than trying to distract from all the bad feels with beans and corn

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

This is Lemmy. Karma doesn't exist.

[–] TORFdot0@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

It doesn’t exist but that doesn’t mean that people still don’t associate their self worth based on receiving validation via the number of internet points to the left of their posts/comments

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world -1 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Replying something that has already been covered in the few, easily checked replies because you're too lazy to look and think you're brilliant exists here, so hopefully Karma does exist in life so someone drones on endlessly at the people who do that shit.

Edit Look, I feel a bit bad, but I'm never going to make it to ban lists if I'm not a big enough dick. You'll live.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

but I’m never going to make it to ban lists if I’m not a big enough dick.

Bruh, all you have to do is say the word 'perchance'.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I can't see myself saying 'perchance' and everyone not knowing it's totally performative. But when I'm a dick everyone's just like "Yeah, that guy's a dick."

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

I can’t see myself saying ‘perchance’ and everyone not knowing it’s totally performative.

You just said it.

I really doubt that putting it in quotes will keep you off the ban list. Therefore, you're on the list. Therefore, congrats -- you can stop being a dick now! 🥳

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

Well, I also compensate by trying to at least be a huge dick.

And I bought a shirt that says "World's biggest dick with the world's smallest dick" and I can't wear it if everyone's going to be like "Nah, Steve's a way bigger dick than you."

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

The issue isn't who or what was on the list, the issue is that the list was hidden. One of the biggest issues with Reddit is that they can censor people they disagree with even against the will of the users. Tesseract was doing exactly that on a platform specifically designed to prevent it.

Sure, different instances can have their own block lists, and users need to find one that works for them, but those are all clearly listed. This one was hidden, causing people who thought they were getting all the information available to them on this platform to instead be getting a tailored list of only what information was deemed acceptable by some person they don't even know. It's a major problem.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I'd have assumed someone with an @bookworm type server thinger would have picked up on the subtle subtext of beating a dead horse. Of course, maybe you did but were all like "Nah, fuck that, this bitch ass horse deserve some more beatin' on."

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 1 points 11 hours ago

Never assume anyone understands anything - if there's something important people need to know, shout it from the rooftops until everyone in the world can recite it in their sleep, and even then don't assume they've truly understood it.

There's no such thing as beating a dead horse on important topics. Not to mention that the thing that's getting beaten is the "I'm on the list lol!" crap - there's been far too little discussion about the censorship issue itself.

Inject those beans straight in the brain

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 16 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Idk, but when I do something and my number for that thing gets big it helps me forget what a failure I am for a few seconds. So it works the same as reddit karma.

[–] TORFdot0@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Have some Lemmy gold kind stranger 🥇

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Hey dude, sending you love for who you are. Take it! ❤️‍🔥

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I really appreciate it. I'll probably just sell it for drugs, though.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Drugs is your failure, then, you mean?

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

God no, drugs are the only thing I'm great at. Well, drugs and spouting bullshit.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Then what makes you such a failure, in your mind? If you want to share, of course.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

ADHD and a primary coping mechanism of avoidance, which can lead to not opening mail because it might be something bad and then feeling awful about it endlessly. Not just the mail, but the mountain of things that should be tiny that seem to build up every few hours until I eat a but of chemicals, forget it all exists, and sometimes think I'm a crocodile for a few hours or get lost in an endless series of corridors in my shower because I turned the light off and got turned around.

Just the usual.

[–] ollie@pawb.social 2 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

what is the tesseract list and how do i see it?

Simply unalign yourself from the 3d plane and peer through the inter dimensional fence. When a being of 3+n dimensions (where n>1) passes by, ask them if you may see the list of all tesseracts in existence. Prepare for a lot of rejection, most higher-dimensional beings are dickbags who don't respect us. Be sure to wear goggles or they'll try to spit on you, and believe you me you do not want 5d saliva in your cranial cavity.

Also, the tesseract list is very long but simultaneously compressed into a single point, so the only way to read it is all at once. Be ready for that. You might want to call ahead to nearby inpatient psychiatric services and tell them you're about to go quite mad.

Probably that time you killed all those people, or stopped that guy from killing all those people.
