Those are just Australian Land Shark...

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nah, that's AI. If this were really Australia, it would be upside down, obviously.

AI: Australia Inverted

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

I used to deadpan joke to junior field staff to watch out for the Boreal fen sharks. I would carry that joke as far as I could seeing how long they would believe it.

For the record the mythical boreal den shark lives in the wettest, shittiest part of the fen, where you have at best an island of peat the size of your boot to stand on. One step in any direction lands you in 80 cm of water, and an overtopped boot.

Do you actually know what Australia is?

[–] socsa@piefed.social 12 points 2 weeks ago

An open air prison? An English accent? A type of snake?

[–] mtpender@piefed.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Went through a whole phase where I drew biker mice from Mars. It's not weird, something like 8% of kids do this.

[–] Ironrod@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly best scene from Superbad 😂

[–] Trampampoline@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 weeks ago

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You're getting sharks in the fields? I'm getting bald eagles - Murica!

[–] tooks@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Terrifying birds. Nothing in media or zoos can prepare you for a close overhead swoop as it lands on the lowest branch of a nearby tree... maybe 8 feet from the Earth's surface. Polarizing. I was left in awe and fearing for my life.

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah I had one swoop by me at the rim of Crater Lake in Oregon once. It came up from below me on an air draft and swooped by almost within arms reach. That was the first time I'd ever seen one in nature. I was not prepared.

September will be fine tho but don't quote me on this

[–] Grabthar@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] darth_grunkus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Thank you! I was hoping that was from an actual movie. I love stupid movies.

[–] Grabthar@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

If stupid is your jam, this one is pretty wild. The actor playing the cultist guy was absolutely into it.

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

I remember first seeing this 6 summers ago 🫥

[–] Napster153@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Sea dogs! We finally domesticated them!

[–] Sunshine@reddthat.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Upvoting this feels wrong

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe that's just a few garden gnomes playing hide-and-seek in the field?
