Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.

“TKO’s unique ability to deliver one-on-one live events and experiences was front and center in the second quarter. Nothing illustrates this better than UFC Freedom 250 held in June,” Emanuel said on the company’s Q2 2026 earnings call. “This event was a roaring success for our company, the UFC brand and the sport of mixed martial arts, exposure, earned media, audience expansion and a weekend-long fan experience.”

However, later on the call, TKO CFO Andrew Schleimer acknowledged that with UFC Freedom 250, “we incurred significantly higher-than-normal costs, which we partially offset with sold out global partnerships inventory. As a reminder, we did not sell tickets and therefore did not record any live events revenue. Given the event’s financial profile, which as anticipated, resulted in approximately $30 million loss, our margins at UFC as well as on a consolidated basis, were meaningfully impacted.”

So it was a 30 million dollar bribe?

Anything to distract from the Epstein files is invaluable to someone that is so included in them and desperately needs everyone to not look into that shit.

It was a crypto scam. Loose money on paper for tax and legal purposes probably

Tight money on paper

That doesn't really mean anything though. "We ~~lost~~ made less than we projected by $30M". You could go sell hotdogs at the park and project to make $30.001M dollars. Damn, lost almost $30M on what was the best day of selling hotdogs ever. Without knowing how much they actually spent and earned (and/or were handed taxpayer dollars), this is just a fluff fake pity piece.

The way I read it was that UFC spent $30M more on the event than they received in direct revenue... I'd expect they'll try to milk replay/youtube/etc to try to recoup, or eat the cost like they ate trump's asshole.

"we incurred significantly higher-than-normal costs, which we partially offset with sold out global partnerships inventory"

I can't have any foreign money contribute to our work if we want NIH funding. I have to verify this many times a year. How come this guy gets to be supported by foreign funding sources for a project held by the damn white house?

Because Donald Trump is fulfilling his dream of being a fascist dictator and wrecking our country as revenge for what we “made him” do to Epstein?

People really Really don’t wanna see it for some reason, and it is making me really sad to see just how many people (elders and peers alike) whom I thought where normal are actually basically shell vessels for vapid denial or unforgiving fascism.

I’m gonna miss this place.

Because fuck you, that's why.

[–] Bieren@lemmy.today 10 points 2 months ago

Maybe so. But did you see the drunk maga cucks fighting on the White House lawn? That is what winning looks like.

I bet he successfully grifted at least that much for himself & his family.

Actually not that bad considering the $300 billion he paid to Iran to bitch out of a war he started...

[–] chunkystyles@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 months ago

I read this as them saying they typically make $30M from selling tickets to an event like this.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 2 months ago

Trump made money, that's all that counts. He doesn't care if everyone else involved goes bankrupt.

What in the wild world of wide angle perspective shift is going on to make that rotting tube of uncooked burger meat look slim squeezed into Joe Rogan's fattest suit?
